Chaos Group Releases V-Ray 3.5 for Maya

Artikel Lighting, Artikel Rendering, Artikel Vray, Artikel Vray for Maya,
[ #Maya #Vray ]
Chaos Group has released V-ray 3.5 for Maya, which improved rendering speed, more responsive look development, and added realism for VFX and animation projects. Major GPU rendering improvements are included in the update as well, with support for a wider range of production features. If you want please join their event!

New additions included:

Faster rendering with Adaptive Lights
V-Ray 3.5 introduces Adaptive Lights, a fast new lighting algorithm that speeds up rendering in scenes with many lights. With Adaptive Lights, V-Ray determines which light sources are most important, so ray tracing calculations are focused and more precise. When tested on multiple CPU and GPU scenes, render times were typically two to seven times faster.

Interactive look development in V-Ray IPR
Look development is quicker and more responsive in V-Ray 3.5 for Maya. The improved V-Ray IPR starts instantly, updates faster and uses less memory. Changes to materials in the Hypershade Material Viewer now update instantly as well.

V-Ray Frame Buffer tools
New V-Ray Frame Buffer tools make rendering with V-Ray IPR even faster. The Render Mask: Isolate select mode focuses rendering on a specific object without rendering the entire scene, and a new Set Focus Point option allows the camera’s focal point to be set interactively, simply by clicking on an object.

Improved shading and reflections
For more accurate reflections and realistic skin, V-Ray 3.5 for Maya adds support for the alSurface material. Developed by Anders Langlands, the alSurface shader includes layered subsurface scattering and glossy Fresnel reflections. This makes it a popular choice for rendering photorealistic skin.

GPU rendering improvements
- On-demand Mip-mapping – Fit larger, more detailed scenes into memory with automatic texture sizing and loading
- Matte Shadow catcher – Composite 3D scenes with realistic shadows onto background images
- Improved glossy materials – Cleaner renders of glossy materials
- Low thread priority – Continue working while rendering, now possible on a single GPU
- Directional lights – Add realistic area lights with directional controls
- Stochastic Flakes – Create car paints, snow and sand with procedural glitter and sparkle effects
- Clipper – Create cross sections using a clipping plane
- Aerial Perspective – Add atmospheric depth and haze
- Cached irradiance maps – Pre-calculate global illumination using CPU and render with GPU
- Lens distortion – Add realistic barrel or pincushion lens distortion
- Interactive lens effects – GPU-accelerated bloom and glare effects

Resumable rendering
Stop your render at any point and continue where you left off.

Chaos Group announces V-Ray 3.5 for NUKE, a major update to its production-proven ray traced renderer used on films like “Spectre” and “The Revenant.” New support for volumetric rendering and deep compositing workflows have greatly expanded V-Ray for NUKE’s core capabilities, adding flexibility to film and TV productions.

Now for the first time, NUKE artists can use the V-Ray Volume Grid node to import and render fire, smoke and other fluid simulations as OpenVDB files from applications like Houdini. This gives compositors direct control over lighting and the final look of volumetric effects for better integration. For even more control, volumes rendered in V-Ray for NUKE are fully compatible with deep compositing.

Deep rendering capabilities have also been greatly improved in this update, allowing artists to fully adopt deep compositing workflows. With V-Ray for NUKE deep data can be generated directly in NUKE, helping artists save disk space and file load times.

“V-Ray for NUKE has expanded what I can do as a creative director. At Framestore, we’ve started applying it to more projects, as it provides greater control over lighting, shadows and atmospheric effects. Deep compositing and full 3D volumes are a great next step,” said William Bartlett, Executive Creative Director at Framestore.

V-Ray 3.50 for 3ds Max 2013 - 2017

Artikel 3ds Max, Artikel Rendering, Artikel V-Ray, Artikel Vray, Artikel Vray for 3dsMax, Artikel VRay-RT,
[ #V-Ray ]
Chaos Group releases V-Ray 3.50 for 3ds Max 2013 - 2017, a free update to the leading CPU and GPU renderer. With the addition of nine major features and a number of performance improvements, V-Ray 3.5 is the fastest and most powerful version yet.

To solve the long-time challenge of rendering scenes with many lights, Chaos Group's R&D team has written a new Adaptive Lights algorithm that drastically speeds up render times. After extensive testing on architectural interiors and large environments with hundreds or even thousands of lights, benchmarking results show that Adaptive Lights can be up to seven times faster, depending on the scene. Now artists can work with a virtually unlimited amount of light sources, rendering scenes that were previously impossible.

“We’ve been testing V-Ray’s new Adaptive Lights on the GPU, and we’re impressed by the results,” said Tomasz WyszoÅ‚mirski, studio director at Dabarti. “In one of our scenes, render times were seven times faster than before – a 54 minute render dropped to 7.5 minutes with Adaptive Lights! The difference is amazing.”

V-Ray 3.50 Top features:

Other Top Features Include:

-Interactive production rendering – Fully interactive production rendering with immediate feedback.
-Glossy fresnel – New, physically-accurate reflection model adds more realism to any scene.
-Resumable rendering – Ability to stop and continue rendering at any point, preserving work and saving time. Supports both progressive and bucket rendering.
-Live VR rendering – Render directly to Oculus Rift or HTC Vive with full GPU acceleration. Visualize changes within the headset as they are made in 3ds Max.
-V-Ray Scene node – Import and render complete scene files created in any V-Ray application. V-Ray scenes are render-ready assets and contain all geometry, lights, materials and textures.
-Interactive lens effects – GPU-accelerated glare and bloom effects that can be enabled and adjusted while rendering. Compatible with V-Ray Denoiser.
-alSurface material – General-purpose shader by Anders Langlands includes built-in SSS controls; popular for skin.
-MDL materials – NVIDIA’s universal material format is now supported by V-Ray, allowing designers to apply MDL materials authored in programs like Substance Designer to their assets and scenes.

GPU Rendering Improvements:
Continued V-Ray GPU development has led to faster speeds and an expanded feature set. In addition to the speed gains of Adaptive Lights, memory-efficiency has been dramatically improved through On-Demand Mip-mapping; an intelligent way to load and render textures quickly using automatic processing and the GPU.

-V-Ray GPU will also now support:
  -iToo Software Forest Color textures
  -Cached irradiance maps
  -Aerial perspective
  -V-Ray Clipper
  -Directional area lights
  -Procedural bump
  -Stochastic flakes
  -Matte/shadow catcher
  -Render mask
  -Low GPU thread priority
