KartaVR 3.0 for Blackmagic Design Fusion

Artikel Compositing, Artikel KartaVR, Artikel VR,
[ #KartaVR ]
Dover Studios co-founder Andrew Hazelden has released KartaVR 3.0, with some new features. You can easily stitch, composite, retouch, and remap any kind of panoramic video: from any projection to any projection with KartaVR.
The KartaVR plug-in works inside of Blackmagic Design’s powerful node based Fusion Studio compositing software. It provides the essential tools for VR, panoramic 360° video stitching, and image editing workflows.

New Features in KartaVR 3.0:

• Stitch 360° Video in Fusion with a PTGui Project File
You can stitch 360° panoramic video directly in Fusion based upon a PTGui project file. This makes the process of building a 360° VR composite easy and fast. Stitching video in Fusion allows you to add visual effects, titles, logos, color correction, and paint out tripods directly in the Fusion compositing environment.

• Oculus Rift Support in Fusion
An Oculus Rift stereo rendering camera provides the ability to view Fusion composites directly on Oculus Rift DK1 and DK2 head mounted displays. This feature works on Windows, Linux, and macOS systems that support HDMI video output. The Oculus Rift head tracking module is not supported, but manual navigation controls in Fusion can be used to interactively adjust the camera’s point of view.

• UV Pass Based High Speed Panoramic Conversions
KartaVR is able to dramatically simplify the process of building a fast and high quality UV pass based panoramic 360° video stitch. This UV Pass technique allows you to stitch and remap imagery between any image projection imaginable.

• Dig into the Example Projects
KartaVR now includes 54 Fusion example projects. Each one contains detailed descriptions of a panoramic compositing workflow. Explore the projects and learn new techniques that will take your VR project to the next level. There is also a fun roller coaster example that demonstrates how to render VR content directly in Fusion’s 3D animation environment.

Visit Andrew Hazelden’s website for more details.

V-Ray 3.5 for NUKE 8 - 10.5

Artikel Chaos Group, Artikel Compositing, Artikel Rendering, Artikel Vray, Artikel VRay for NUKE,
[ #Vray ]

Chaos Group announces V-Ray 3.5 for NUKE, a major update to its production-proven ray traced renderer used on films like “Spectre” and “The Revenant.” New support for volumetric rendering and deep compositing workflows have greatly expanded V-Ray for NUKE’s core capabilities, adding flexibility to film and TV productions.

Now for the first time, NUKE artists can use the V-Ray Volume Grid node to import and render fire, smoke and other fluid simulations as OpenVDB files from applications like Houdini. This gives compositors direct control over lighting and the final look of volumetric effects for better integration. For even more control, volumes rendered in V-Ray for NUKE are fully compatible with deep compositing.

Deep rendering capabilities have also been greatly improved in this update, allowing artists to fully adopt deep compositing workflows. With V-Ray for NUKE deep data can be generated directly in NUKE, helping artists save disk space and file load times.

“V-Ray for NUKE has expanded what I can do as a creative director. At Framestore, we’ve started applying it to more projects, as it provides greater control over lighting, shadows and atmospheric effects. Deep compositing and full 3D volumes are a great next step,” said William Bartlett, Executive Creative Director at Framestore.

>> See Also: V-Ray For NUKE tutorial: Rendering, Optimization, Nuke to Standalone and Tricks

New Features and Improvements Include:

Volume Grid – Import and render volume simulations using industry-standard volume formats, including OpenVDB, Field3D, and Phoenix FD.
Deep Rendering – Improved deep rendering capabilities with support for deep volumes, offering full control over 3D depth information.
V-Ray Denoiser – Automatically reduce noise for cleaner renders. Denoise individual render elements, apply denoise masks and denoise final deep composites.
Light Cache GI – Speed up renders with V-Ray's unique global illumination method. Enable the new Adaptive Lights algorithm to make it even faster.
Improved Render Elements – Render elements generated in V-Ray for NUKE or rendered in V-Ray Standalone can now be used interchangeably. In addition, all render elements can be cached with a single render.
Triplanar texture – Apply seamless textures to complex objects without UVs.
V-Ray Falloff texture – Control an object’s shading effects in relation to the camera. Use NUKE Curves for even more control.
V-Ray Clipper – Create quick sections and cutaways at render time using a clipping plane or mesh object.
V-Ray Spot Light – Create spotlights with textured projections, barn door controls and soft shadows.

“Deep compositing workflows have gone from being a good idea to the standard in the film and TV industries,” says Jody Madden, Chief Product and Customer Officer at Foundry. “Incorporating V-Ray's production-proven rendering capabilities into Nuke's Deep Compositing workflow will save artists huge amounts of time, and that's exactly what we want to achieve when we work with other companies.”

Learn more at the V-Ray for NUKE product page.

Pricing/Availability

V-Ray 3.5 for NUKE is available now and is a free update for V-Ray 3.x for NUKE customers.

A V-Ray for NUKE Workstation license can be purchased for $1,040 through select resellers. This includes one floating user license and one floating render node. V-Ray for NUKE can render on existing V-Ray 3.x for 3ds Max and Maya render node licenses.

V-Ray 3.3 for NUKE

Artikel Compositing, Artikel Rendering, Artikel Vray, Artikel VRay for NUKE,
[ #Vray ]
Chaos Group has released the most powerful renderer currently available for NUKE, NUKEX, and NUKE STUDIO. V-Ray 3.3 for NUKE brings the first node-based VR system, GPU rendering speeds, and 200+ 3.x updates also available in V-Ray for 3ds Max and Maya, to artists around the world.

>> See Also: Vray for NUKE tutorial

Already being used in production on franchises like James Bond, V-Ray for NUKE allows compositors to alter any 3D asset. Before, a lighting issue meant going backwards in the pipeline. Now, compositors have all the lighting, shading and rendering elements they need to do the job themselves.

"V-Ray for NUKE has opened up a new horizon in creative possibilities,” said William Bartlett, Executive Creative Director, Integrated Advertising at Framestore. “Whether you are generating detailed renders for pitches and treatments, or combining 2D and 3D in interesting new ways like we did on the Spectre titles, these tools stand out. We couldn't be more excited and pleased with the implementation.”

NUKE’s first VR system arrives via two new cameras, covering spherical and stereo cube maps. With VR exploding into the mainstream, studios finally have an easy way to access this lucrative market.

V-Ray Standalone brings real-time, GPU-accelerated rendering to film and broadcast projects, including full access to the entire V-Ray line-up (bucket, progressive and V-Ray RT). The addition of a V-Ray VRscene node will help teams transmit full render-ready assets from V-Ray for 3ds Max and Maya to NUKE artists (or vice versa) with perfect parity. Users can preview, instance, transform and control V-Ray scene files with 100% consistency, no matter where they are in the pipeline.

“When people think of NUKE, they usually don’t think of rendering,” said Vlado Koylazov, CTO of Chaos Group. “Now artists can create a 3D scene using the same nodal workflow used throughout NUKE.”

V-Ray 3.3 for NUKE Features:

Render with V-Ray Standalone
-Render scenes with the full power of V-Ray Standalone directly in NUKE. With the new VRayTranslator node you can access all of V-Ray's powerful rendering options - bucket, progressive, and V-Ray RT - and you can render faster using distributed rendering.

New VRayVRscene node
-Import, export, and control V-Ray scene files with the new VRayVRscene node.
-Render animated V-Ray scene files (.vrscene)
-Preview, instance, and transform V-Ray scene files

Variance-based Adaptive Sampling
-V-Ray 3.3 for NUKE adds the latest updates to the V-Ray core, matching V-Ray for 3ds Max and Maya, with Variance-based Adaptive Sampling for better noise detection and cleaner renders.

Additional updates and improvements include:

Cameras
-VR cameras - create spherical and cubic stereo panoramas for VR
-Physical camera - simulate real-world cameras with controls for depth of field, motion blur, and lens distortion.

Lights
-Sun & sky with Aerial perspective - simulate natural looking daylight with realistic atmospheric depth.

Geometry
-Proxy visibility controls – turn objects on and off within a V-Ray proxy.
-Instanced proxy objects with NUKE particles – render large scenes using NUKE particles to instance V-Ray proxy objects.

Materials
-Two-sided translucency - create thin translucent materials efficiently with the VRayMtl2Sided.

Textures
-Layered textures - create layered textures using a variety of overlays and blend modes.
-Procedural noise texture – render parametric 3D noise with the VRayTexNoise node.

Render elements & compositing
-Render mask - render only selected objects for faster updates.
-Velocity - create motion blur as a post effect with the improved VRayVelocity render element.

Pricing and Availability

V-Ray for NUKE is available now through select resellers for $1,040. For a limited time, artists can also purchase V-Ray 3.3 for NUKE and a copy of either V-Ray 3.3 for 3ds Max or Maya for $1,500.

GeoTracker is a lightweight Nuke plugin for the model-based single view object tracking

>> See Also: Learn NUKE

Main Features

  -Accurate tracking of rigid objects.
-Easy to use. Only important user-dependent parameters are shown in the UI while a lot of hidden parameters are intelligently calculated internally.
-Fast. GeoTracker was developed while working on a film that required a lot of match moving. The crucial task was to speed up the tracking process as much as possible. We believe that GeoTracker significantly reduces the amount of “manual labor”.
-Possible to create and adjust tracking information right inside The Foundry Nuke. It can shorten your workflow significantly. You don’t need to switch between applications and perform export/import when some inaccuracies are detected.
-Native. It’s created using all strengths and possibilities of The Foundry Nuke API.
-It’s just a beginning. When using GeoTracker, please keep in mind that it’s only a beta version.

Artikel Compositing, Artikel Photoshop, Artikel Richard Rosenman, Artikel Ultraflares,
[ #Photoshop ]
Richard Rosenman has announced the immediate availability of Ultraflares v1.0 for Photoshop, the ultimate lens flare and light studio for Adobe Photoshop and compatible hosts!

Backed by over a year and a half of research and development, Ultraflares boasts some of the most advanced and realistic lens flare features available today. Ultraflares comes packed with hundreds of presets including over 65 natural flares, over 60 stylized flares, over 35 glints and over 40 light leaks, all modeled after real-world light phenomena.

Ultraflares is much more than a lens flare plugin; it’s a full feature light studio. Not only does it allow the artist to produce sophisticated lens flares, but also the ability to generate a wide variety of complex camera lens effects including the generation of volumetric lights, glows, light glints, star filters, sun glows, star bursts, film burns & aberrations, light leaks, highlight accents, photo filters, bokehs, lens textures, and much, much more. It is an indispensable tool for 3D artists looking to push their 3D renders to the next level.

Ultraflares features stunningly-realistic iris effects such as spherical aberration, aberration scale, aberration offset and asymmetry for replicating ultra-realistic natural lens flares. Circular completion controls how much of the iris diameter (in degrees) is visible while light distribution, a new and truly unique feature specific to Ultraflares only, controls the illumination across the iris with it’s respective angle. Chromatic aberration can be globally applied to the entire flare while spectral coloring can work on any number of specific objects. Add subtle touches like iris edge ringing to push the realism to the next level.

Ultraflares brings the power of lens textures to the artist’s fingertips. Select any lens texture and watch as Ultraflares realistically illuminates the texture according to it’s lens flare color, location and structure. Choose Ultraflares’ own highly configurable procedural lens orbs object or use custom textures of any kind. Embedded custom textures in compatible file formats such as PSD allow Ultraflares to easily toggle between multiple textures.

Ultraflares is the definitive solution for any hobbyist or professional digital artist, designer or photographer demanding cutting-edge, high-quality lens flares and light effects. Check out the website for a full list of features and detailed flare galleries.
