Replay Plugin for MODO - Workflow Automation Tools

Artikel Export, Artikel Modeling, Artikel Modo, Artikel Script,
[ #Modo #Replay #Plugins ]
Replay is the easiest way to record, run, edit, and export macros and simple scripts in MODO. Automate your workflow, no code required. The plugin requires MODO 10.2 or later.
Automating repetitive tasks in Replay is much quicker than with traditional macros, and we wrote our own command listener system that catches much more detail and nuance than the built-in macro recorder in MODO.

Quickstart:
Install the kit
• Click the R icon in the MODO Modes Bar
• Click the record icon at the bottom-right
• Perform some actions to record. Note that these should NOT be interactive actions.
• At any time during recording, you can stop recording by clicking the record icon again. If you begin recording again, new commands will be inserted after the currently-selected command.
• To run the script, click the play button. To test the script step-by-step to find errors and efficiencies, use the step button.
• To modify the arguments of a command, either right-click > Edit on the command (or moddle-click on it for short). Note that you can edit like-named arguments from multiple commands at the same time using multi-selections.
• To reorder commands in the list, simply drag and drop. If you prefer, you can use the reorder up, down, top, and bottom commands in the right-click menu.
• Click Macro > Save. The save dialog defaults to your MODO user Scripts directory.
• Once saved, you can run the script using the run menu in the MODO Modes Bar, or using Macro > Map to Key....

RenderMonkey 2 for MODO

Artikel Modo, Artikel Render Monkey, Artikel Rendering,
[ #MODO ]
RenderMonkey 2 is Rendering Kit for MODO which adds easy progressive rendering, batch rendering, rendering arbitrary frame ranges, and combining pass groups to MODO.

>> See Also: MODO Tutorial

Features:

- Progressive Rendering UI makes rendering easy-peasy in MODO: no settings, no fuss, no muss.
- Batch Rendering UI lets you set up multiple jobs to render automatically. Set it and forget it. You can control every aspect of your renders, from frame ranges to pass groups to render outputs to render quality settings to custom commands to run before each job. It's an incredibly sophisticated tool, yes, but it's also easy to install, and even easier to use.
- Render any range of frames. For example, enter "1-3, 5, 10-8, 20-30:2" to render frames [1,2,3,5,10,9,8,20,22,24,26,28,30] in that order. Neat, right?
- Combine pass groups to see every possible combination. In the example (pictured above), we combine every camera angle for every material type for every car model in the scene, rendering them all in one fell swoop. This is quite possibly our favorite feature.

Render Monkey 2 represents and enormous effort. Hundreds of hours over many months were spent designing, building, testing, and tweaking it to make it as fast and seamless as possible. Thanks for helping make it possible.

Non-Photorealistic Rendering 2 kit for MODO

Artikel Modo, Artikel Rendering,
[ #MODO #Rendering ]
The NPR 2 kit lets you easily create a range of expressive, and hand drawn looks when rendering in MODO. It is useful in applications from technical illustration where edges and important features are emphasized at the expense of detailed visual accuracy, to carToons where simple colors and strong lines are used to convey emotion

>> See Also: MODO 901 Renders By Tomáš Sciskala

What’s new in version 2

XToon: An extended Toon Shader
-XToon is a custom material for Toon shading that gives new flexibility and control over shading. Traditional Toon or cel shading reduces smooth shading to a series of sharp bands using a one dimensional ‘map’ of color steps from full shadow to full brightness. XToon would be used to simulate fog or depth of field effects, or to reduce visual detail in areas of less significance. Because MODO can drive this detail with an external texture, the possibilities are endless.

Surface Flow
-Surface Flow is a new way to change both NPR screen tiling parameters based on surface distance and angle, and the position of one or more texture locators. When using screen coordinates instead of UVs, this helps increase the illusion that the texture is attached to 3D objects in the scene, for a more natural, hand-drawn shading. For animation, it offers an additional way to eliminate the look of an object sliding under a fixed texture.

Gradient Channels
-Gradient channels in the Toon Material lets you accurately control the level and band positions for specular highlights and mirror reflections.

More Powerful Re-shading
-Most of the NPR Shaders now let you mix indirect illumination into the shading amount. Doing this gives you fine control of your lighting, and really takes advantage of MODO’s powerful global illumination rendering.

Your shading can now be rendered with Crayon or Scratch mode. Crayon mode uses the surface diffuse color in place of the shader’s ink color. Scratch mode used the final rendered color of the surface as the ink color.

Lastly, the simple Specular Drawing toggle has been replaced with a mixing level to give you better control specular highlights, and a companion Reflection Amount control lets you mix in your scene reflections.

What's included in the NPR 2 kit

  -8 NPR Shaders
-Sample backgrounds that are ideal for completing the hand-drawn effect including napkins, chalkboard, crumpled and lined paper, and a page flip sequence
  -18 Dab brushes
-56 sketch maps plus 6 XToon maps
  -50 presets
  -9 ready-to-render NPR scenes
-Tiling sketch map paint scene for making your own sketch maps
-XToon generator scene for making your own XToon maps
-Video tutorial that guides you through the creation of your own Sketch Map using MODO and the included Sketch Map/Tiling Texture painting scene

Software Compatibility

-NPR 2 kit is compatible with 901 & 801. If you are on 701, or older, you still have access to NPR kit (version 1) in your account. If you are using 801, please make sure to uninstall NPR kit (version 1) before using NPR 2 kit.

MeshFusion for MODO

Artikel Featured, Artikel MeshFusion, Artikel Modeling, Artikel Modo,
The Foundry has unveiled MeshFusion - a revolutionary new modeling plugin for MODO which allows you to take advantage of new modeling operations that will let you interactively blend, add and subtract objects to create consistently high quality subdivision surface (SDS) models faster and more efficiently than ever before. MeshFusion for MODO has been developed by Braid Art Labs based upon the previous GroBoto technology. This revolutionary new modeling plugin is available exclusively for MODO 701 SP4 and opens up a new world of creative possibilities for artists and designers.

>> See Also: Modo tutorial

Full feature list:

- Interactive live booleans based on Catmull–Clark subdivision surfaces (SDS)
- Works with MODO’s full slate of modeling tools
- Editable Fusion Strips (edge loops), that automaticly blend surfaces along boolean intersections.
- Easy clickhaul editing
- Watertight mesh export to .STL
- Convert to standard MODO meshes for further modeling and/or retopology
- Animate and render live boolean connections
- Custom '3D Boolean Tree' UI with drag and drop editing directly in the 3D viewport
- MODO Schematic View boolean editing with complete set of standard boolean nodes
- Add mesh items to the schematic via drag and drop in 3D viewports
- Custom editing layouts, with optimized display settings for MeshFusion modeling
- Additional custom scripts to help manage, manipulate and model complex boolean models
- 3D 'Qbic' mesh primitives included — perfect for MeshFusion modeling

Why add MeshFusion to MODO?

- Create booleans between subdivision surface (SDS) objects
- Control the blending between the resulting surfaces
- Edit assembly instructions creatively with three intuitive editing modes (3D Tree Fusion, Schematic Fusion and Fusion Strip)
- Use with deformers and other MODO modeling tools, giving freedom to experiment more
- Final mesh output is a single unified mesh ready for further editing or export to .STL for 3D printing
