Version 0.42 of NOX - a Evermotion's free stand-alone, physically-accurate state-of-an-art renderer is now available for download

Changes are:

+ Blender: Import NOX Material and Run NOX Material Editor fixed
+ Blender: rendering with modifiers is now possible without Applying them. Note: you still need to apply modifiers to particle objects before rendering with NOX.
+ 3ds Max: fixed scene loading bug
+ Rendering engine: Bidirectional Path Tracing (BDPT) and Path Tracing (PT) engines fixed, render result in both cases should be the same
+ Rendering engine: reflections on fake glass in BDPT now work correctly
+ GUI: added Options tab
+ GUI: fixed mouseover events on some controls
+ Experimental OpenCL post-processing for Post and Correction Tabs. Option can be set in Options tab.
+ New option: Autoreload textures that were changed in external editor. Option can be set in Options tab

Evermotion has announced that the new version of a free physically-accurate state-of-an-art renderer NOX 0.41 is now available for download. NOX 0.41 added MaxScript that converts V-Ray scenes, better handling of user files, fixed luminance curve, bugfixing

Changes:

local saved files moved to user profile folder - now it is safe to install NOX in your "Program Files" folder. To view user folder open Help menu and select User Profile
added maxscript file that converts Vray scene to Nox scene
luminance curve fixed to work in linear color space
Maxscript that converts V-Ray scene to NOX is located in your NOX installation folder, in subfolder "maxscript". To run converter simply drag script file VrayToNox.ms on 3ds Max window.

What is converted:

- materials: VRayMtl, VrayLightMtl, StandardMaterial
- lights: VRayLight (Sphere and Plane), VRayIES, Omnilight - geometry for NOX emitters is created
- portal from VRayLight
- VRaySun
Converted objects will probably need to be tweaked in NOX. All other kind of objects have to be converted by user.

Important: After this update *.max scenes with NOX objects made with previous NOX installations may not load properly in 3ds Max. Merging scene can help.
